Experience
Invirtus, Inc. was founded by Tom Edwards in April
2005. Tom still leads the research and development teams at Invirtus. Tom had
been at Microsoft for over 12 years and saw the virtualization wave very early;
2002. In fact, Tom's team at Microsoft was VMware's largest customer.
After two years in business and some 1,500
customers later, Quest Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSFT) acquired Invirtus
in May 2007 in order to expand its product portfolio of virtualization infrastructure management solutions. The virtualization management technologies from Invirtus support that objective, by helping enterprises maximize their virtualization investment, whether based on Microsoft®, VMware®,
Citrix® Xen Server or Virtual Iron® platforms. Invirtus pioneered the technology credited with reducing the size of virtual machines and continues to lead the development of technologies that assist with the management of virtualization technologies, a market that Gartner estimates will grow to $30 billion by 2008.
vOptimizer came about after research with hundreds of individuals about how they use virtual machines. From the feedback received Invirtus
continues to develop new technologies that will help companies discover innovative ways to enhance their IT capabilities while extending their IT budgets.
In September 2007 Invirtus rebranded its
product line and leveraged a new strategic distribution relationship
with Vizioncore, also a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Software, Inc. The Invirtus product line
will be exclusively available from Vizioncore and its global channel
network.
