Invirtus Solution Creates Smaller, Faster Virtual Machines

Optimization Tool will Ease Distribution, Save Users Time and Money

ATLANTA, GA – November 15, 2005 Invirtus Corporation, developer of software that makes virtual machines more accessible to more people, announced today the release of VMOptimizer™ 2.0. VM Optimizer simplifies the management and distribution of virtual machines by reducing their size by up to 80%.

“As adoption and use of virtual machine technology is becoming more and more mainstream, we are seeing greater demand from users to share and transport virtual machines,” said Richard Fichera, Vice President of Forrester Research.

“Yet the compaction tools built in to today’s platforms are only providing a limited decrease in the size of virtual machines,” explained Tom Edwards, founder of Invirtus. “VM Optimizer provided a much smaller image than off the shelf compaction tools,” explained Jeffrey Weinstein of healthcare software provider MedManagement. “Now we’ll be able to place multiple VMs onto a single DVD where previously we were unable to place just one.”

“VM Optimizer is the first tool of its kind to give users what they really want – a significant enough reduction in the size of VMs to make them truly portable and break previous sharing barriers.”

VM Optimizer is a Windows-based application that runs inside of a Virtual Machine and optimizes virtual machines running on VMware® WorkstationTM, VMware GSX ServerTM, Microsoft® Virtual PCTM, and Microsoft Virtual ServerTM.

“Built-in compaction doesn't provide near the results to make compacting worth while,” “An 80% reduction in the size of a virtual machine will allow users to store multiple VMs onto a single DVD and enable new collaboration scenarios which, until now, have been nearly impossible,” continued Edwards. “With VM Optimizer, users are now able to easily transmit VMs across their network and the internet.”

"VM Optimizer is the first tool of its kind to give users what they really want – a significant enough reduction in the size of VMs to make them truly portable and break previous sharing barriers."
