vPackager™ Highly Efficient Virtualization Collaboration for VMware and

vPackager enables organizations to further leverage investments in people, networks, operating systems, applications and other IT resources by extending and optimizing the use of Snapshot and Differencing Disk technologies. vPackager decouples the dependency of applications from the original base image (that contains the Windows® operating system), by creating compacted packages that contain only the selected applications and configurations required for distribution. The downstream user or recipient requires only a similar base image (not a binary replica) to apply the incoming package in order to obtain the desired environment. Essentially vPackager enables highly efficient VM collaboration by eliminating the base OS requirement and compacting the Snapshot or Differencing files into optimized packages, or virtual appliances, which can be measured in megabytes not gigabytes.
